Secret revealed: How I Shop from TV
EN • If I see a piece or outfit that I like in a series or movie, I stop the film and try to get a clean photo or screenshot. Then I start searching the different search engines that were specifically developed for this matter.
DE • Wenn ich ein Outfit sehe, das mir in einer Serie oder einem Film gefällt, halte ich den Film kurz an und mache mit meinem Handy ein klares Foto oder einen Screenshot. Anschließend benutze ich das Foto, um in den verschiedenen Suchmaschinen, die eigens dafür ausgelegt sind, nach verlinkten Outfits zu suchen.
The classic platform: Worn on TV
EN • I think “wornonTV.net” is the most common platform to look up what movie characters wear. You can for example find out what Claire Underwood from House of Cards wore in episode 5 season 2. The downside is that you can’t find old movies on the platform. So if you were hoping to finally find out which dress Carrie Bradshaw wore when she walked the streets of NYC, you’ll be disappointed.

EN • Another downside of “Worn on TV” is that they give you the original items and they can be preeeeetty pricy: Often actors are dressed in top designer wear such as Gucci, Prada, Dior, you name it. If you are looking for cheaper versions here is help: The ASOS Visual search helps you to find similar pieces within the ASOS shop. You just upload the screenshot and it’ll give you a perfect match.
DE • Ein weiterer Nachteil der Plattform “Worn on TV” ist, dass die Originalartikel meistens ziemlich teuer sind. Schauspieler tragen oft die neusten Kollektionen von Top-Designern wie z. B. Gucci, Prada oder Dior. Um günstigere Versionen zu finden, kann die ASOS-Bildsuche weiter helfen. Man lädt einfach ein Foto hoch und der Algorithmus findet Kleider mit einer hohen oder genauen Übereinstimmung. Je nachdem ob das Teil bei ASOS verfügbar ist oder nicht.

EN • The Business Insider called Spylight “The Shazaam of Fashion” and that’s all there’s left to say about this app. You just record a bit of text while watching a movie or series and the app will search for all the information regarding the outfits worn on screen.

Oh yes, I often find movies or tv shows in which the actor is wearing the perfect outfit, and sometimes I wish, I was talented at designing and sewing so I could replicate the outfit lol.
