Baby Steps Toward More Sustainability in Fashion

EN • The year 2020 definitely caught us by surprise. After new year we made big plans celebrating a new decade. However all the travel plans got cancelled, we had to stay at home and the whole world was facing the same issue. Working together is required and while we experienced our lives in a very different, less stressed way the nature had some time to breath. 2020 became the year of awareness for the environment.

EN • With fashion bloggers always talking about the latest trends, fashion shows and sales campaigns you might think that this is a weird direction. However I think that we are the closest influencers to address this topic. Caring about sustainability in fashion does not have to mean that you can’t live out your passion for fashion and following the latest trends.

Here are some of my ideas more sustainability in fashion

EN • Believe it or not but in this post I’m actually wearing a preloved dress. I got it on the German platform Kleiderkreisel. There are many platforms like that in every country to shop vintage pieces.

EN • I’m not telling you to completely change the way you consume fashion from one day to another. However conscious buying is one key aspect to save the planet. Its important to buy only what you really like. Having an eye on tables that stand for sustainability in fashion labels can be another idea.

EN • The topic of sustainability in fashion is not a new one. There have been several projects around this matter. One idea that I found fascinating is models such as rent the runway to rent current collections and return them again.

EN • Of course sustainability in fashion does not only have to take place on the buyers side. Also there are many ideas to handle pieces you lost your interest in. Selling them online to give someone else the chance to love them is one of them. Also it is a good way to make some money on the side.

EN • Of course there is not everything worth selling. Most likely there will be no one interested in your old pj pants you wore for 5 years now. Donating them might be a great idea. There are various platforms out there where you can do that.

It really did catch us all by surprised! I like these tips, I defiantly had to work with what I had these past months because of my growing belly, I didn’t find purpose in spending money for things I wasn’t going to fit it after. Love your dress and photos by the way!

The vintage dress that you wear according to my younger sister who also saw it … it was a beautiful dress model and also inspired to have it.

That is a great preloved dress. And this past FW I wore all pre-loved and shopped my closet items with the exception of one hat that I got on sale at Zara. But yes buying less fast fashion, more preloved, and even renting. Are baby steps to a greener future.

Ahh, this dress is so gorg and look at those beautiful yellow blooms! I have sold some of my old handbags, but usually clothing I just give away to Goodwill. I’m sure if I had more patience, I could make more money off some of my old things!

I feel like people sometimes get mad at bloggers and influencers for giving there opinion on trends or style. But honestly, they are more relatable and can give more modern takes on things. I think a lot of people who say otherwise on them tend to be just jealous because they never thought of it first 🙂 I love your outfit you are wearing in your photos. They look so good and your tips here are so right on 🙂 http://www.bauchlefashion.com/2020/06/5-ways-to-take-chance-and-be-woman.html

I love preloved loves because they like a treasure hunt. Plus it’s hard for anyone to find another, so you feel like the only person in the world who has it.
Preloved shopping really is the way to go. I mean, I could spend hours on end in a thrift store. I truly in my happy place.

These are such great ways to be a more responsible and sustainable consumer of fashion! I love the tip about being a conscious consumer. It is so important to buy clothing that will last for many years as opposed to fast fashion pieces that will only last for a short time and be thrown away.

Even baby steps can make a big difference if we all take part! I love to buy secondhand and try to purchase eco friendly items when I can!

That dress is gorgeous! It looks so good on you. These are great tips, especially if you’re just starting out in trying to be a bit more sustainable. I like to buy preloved where possible, and think long and hard about what I can wear an item with to make sure it’s a strong fit in my wardrobe before I buy something new. Renting is a great option for special occasion pieces too x

I’m trying to be more conscious with what clothes I buy and what materials I wear. I also try and recycle old clothes so that they get a new owner. I really want to start thrifting as well when lockdown is over 🙂 xo

    Hey Miri!

Hi Miri! Hope you’re doing good and thanks for your nice comment on my latest blog post!

As you I’m trying to take baby steps when it comes to decide what to purchase and where to purchase, not only talking about fashion. I prefer to invest in a quality piece instead of having tons of clothes that would end up in the trash :/

All steps count and we should be more conscious about every shopping decision 🙂
