Share Water! bath with a friend?

EN • No, today’s post is not about bathing with a friend. Today I want to talk about the #raiseitforward initiative on Instagram and other great ways to give back to the community. Earlier this week I stumbled upon an Instagram post by the beautiful Jessica from Notjessfashion in which she shared the challenge. On the occasion of the world water day on March 22nd the #RaiseItForward initiative was started. About 2.1 billion people don’t have access to safe drinking water. For every post shared until April 22nd using #RaiseItForward and tagging @AbsolutElyx and @WaterForPeople, Elyx will donate a week’s supply of water to someone in need.

DE • Nein, im heutigen Beitrag geht es nicht darum, mit einem Freund zu baden. Heute möchte ich über meine Gedanken zur  Initiative auf Instagram sprechen, Wasser zu teilen. Anfang dieser Woche stieß ich auf einen Instagram-Beitrag, den die liebe Jessica von Notjessfashion gepostet hat. Anlässlich des Weltwassertags am 22. März wurde die Initiative #RaiseItForward gestartet, denn rund 2,1 Milliarden Menschen haben keinen Zugang zu sauberem Trinkwasser. Für jeden Beitrag, der bis zum 22. April mit #RaiseItForward geteilt und @AbsolutElyx und @WaterForPeople markiert wurde, spendet Elyx eine Woche Wasser für jemanden, der diese Hilfe braucht.

EN • Inspired by the #RaiseItForward challenge I did a little brainstorming and wrote down all the things I already did in my life to give back to the community. Here’s how each and everyone of us can give back to the community very easily.

DE • Inspiriert von der #RaiseItForward Initiative habe ich ein wenig Brainstorming gemacht und mal aufgeschrieben, was ich bereits in meinem Leben getan habe, meinen Teil zur Gesellschaft beizutragen. Dadurch bin ich auf eine Reihe von Dingen gestoßen, die jeder von uns tun kann, um etwas zu teilen.

EN • No matter if you have a big social media following or not, your voice does matter! For instance, in the case of the #RaiseItfoward challenge one post already equals a week’s supply of water to someone in need. Let’s get started!

DE • Es spielt keine Rolle, ob ihr viele Follower habt oder nicht, es ist der eigene Beitrag, der in erster Linie zählt! Im Fall der #RaiseItForward Challenge wird zum Beispiel für jeden einzelnen Post eine Wochenration Wasser an eine Person gespendet.

Sign up for newsletters of Organisations

EN • I signed up for various newsletters of non-profit organisations. However, the one I like most is change.org. It’s a platform where everyone can start a petition and others can sign it online. They feature a large variety of initiatives with different topics such as politics, environment, animal protection and so on. If I feel like supporting an initiative I just give it a click and sign to make the world a better place.

DE • Ich habe verschiedene Newsletter von gemeinnützigen Organisationen per Mail abonniert. Am liebsten mag ich die Plattform change.org. Auf dieser Seite kann jeder Petitionen starten und andere können sie online per Klick unterschreiben. Es gibt viele verschiedene Themenbereiche, die man unterstützen kann, wie z. B. Politik, Umwelt oder Tierschutz. Wenn ich eine Initiative unterstützen möchte, unterschreibe ich einfach per Klick und setze somit mein Zeichen, um die Welt zu einem besseren Ort zu machen.

3. Sign up for a monthly donation

EN • I understand that money is a critical topic, but if you think you can spare some and donate that’s a great way to give back to the community. I personally signed up for “Doctors Without Borders” cause I admire their work but there are so so many other great organisations who fight for our planet and you could support them. Again, every participation matters! Get informed and maybe you can support an organisation you trust!

DE • Ich finde, eine Geldspende ist eine großartige Möglichkeit, der Gemeinschaft etwas zurückzugeben. Und es gibt so viele verschiedene Organisationen, die für unseren Planeten kämpfen und bei denen man sich beteiligen kann. PETA, WWF , Unicef oder Greenpeace sind nur ein paar Beispiele dafür. Ich habe mich persönlich für “Ärzte ohne Grenzen” entschieden, weil ich ihre Arbeit bewundere. Ich denke, jede Teilnahme ist wichtig und wenn jeder nur eine kleine Summe regelmäßig gibt, dann macht das schon einen großen Unterscheid.

4. Do one time donations

EN •If you do not like to have a monthly subscription, one-time donations are also a great option. I remember that Christmas for example, is always a good time to donate something. Alternatively, you can always donate clothes or items that you need no longer to a local organisation instead of throwing it away.

DE • Wenn man sich nicht gerne monatlich beteiligen möchte, dann ist eine einmalige Spende auch eine tolle Option. Spontan ist mir dazu eingefallen, dass Weihnachten immer ein guter Zeitpunkt zum Spenden ist. Alternativ kann man auch immer bei lokalen Hilfsstellen Kleider oder Gegenstände spenden, die man nicht mehr braucht.

5. Participate in local initiatives

EN • When I was in school I helped out in the local food bank. In my experience, local initiatives such as the food bank always need a helping hand. Therefore, if you have some spare time and want to help in person, that’s another good way to give back to the community.

DE • Als ich noch Schülerin war, habe ich eine Zeit lang in der örtlichen Tafel mitgearbeitet. Meiner Erfahrung nach werden in örtlichen Organisationen immer helfende Hände gebraucht. Wenn man also etwas Zeit übrig hat, ist das eine tolle Art mitzuwirken.
