Birthday Girl – Here is to 25 and a happy life

EN • Not the beginning of the new year 2019 but my 25th birthday makes me stop for a moment and think about things I have accomplished so far. I really like to look back on everything I have already experienced. Also, I look forward to what is yet to come. Like everybody else I have desires and dreams and I always try to find ways to make them come true. I figured that there are some essential key elements to a happy and balanced life.

DE • Nicht der Beginn eines neuen Jahres sondern mein fünfundzwansigster Geburtstag bringt mich dazu, einen Moment innezuhalten. Ich schaue gerne bewusst auf alles zurück was ich bereits erlebt und erreicht habe. Auf der anderen Seite schaue ich gespannt dem entgegen, was noch kommen wird. Natürlich habe ich Wünsche und Träume und mache Pläne wie ich diese erreichen kann. Ich denke, dass es Dinge gibt, denen man sich bewusst sein sollte um ein ausgewogenes und glückliches Leben zu führen.

Aim high – you only get what you ask for

EN • There are times in life when you tend to have no confidence in yourself. However, I have had the experience that you mostly accomplish things if you don’t even think about failing. Instead, tackling challenges with healthy dose of self-confidence is the key to success. It makes sense to take a minute and think about everything you’d like to have, do, know or achieve. Set the goals high and look for ways to achieve them. Because one thing is for sure: If you do not even try it or wish for it, you’ll never get there.

DE • Es gibt Zeiten im Leben da tendiert man dazu, sich Dinge einfach nicht zuzutrauen. Ich konnte allerdings die Erfahrung machen, dass man meistens Herausforderungen meistert, die man mit einer gesunden Portion Selbstvertrauen anpackt. Es ist sinnvoll, die Ziele hoch zu stecken und nach Möglichkeiten zu suchen, wie man diese Ziele erreichen kann. Denn eins ist sicher: Wenn du es überhaupt nicht erst versuchst, wirst du nie wissen ob du es geschafft hättest.

Have courage to take risks – step outside your comfort zone

EN •  Oh boy, the way is full of stones! Reaching your ambitious goals is tied to hard work. You’ll have to take risks and step out of your comfort zone. I can promise you, there will be days you’ll ask yourself if you were in your right mind to even start this undertaking. Certainly, you’ll experience setbacks. Doors will be slammed in your face – don’t give up! Just find how ways how things can work out. Happenings in the past year showed me, how limited and valuable our time really is. Therefor we should spend it wisely, there may be no “later”.

DE •  Die Ziele hoch zu stecken heißt oft, dass man Risiken eingehen und aus seiner Komfortzone heraustreten muss. Das ist natürlich nicht immer angenehm aber notwendig, wenn man abseits der abgegrasten Wege sein Glück finden will. Natürlich wird man auch die ein oder andere Niederlage einstecken müssen – aber wo wäre denn der Spaß dabei, wenn das nicht so wäre? Mir is im letzten Jahr deutlich bewusst geworden, wie limitiert unsere Zeit eigentlich ist. Deshalb sollten wir sie sinnvoll nutzen.

Cherish the moment – enjoy life to the fullest

EN • While working hard to accomplish your goals, living in the here and now is a very important part of life. Spending time with the family, friends is essential to happiness and gives you new energy. there is no point in always thinking about tomorrow when we never learned how to enjoy today and everything we have in this moment.

DE • Im Hier und Jetzt leben ist ein ganz wichtiger Bestandteil des Glücks. Zeit mit der Familie und Freunden zu verbringen macht glücklich und schenkt neue Energie. Glück bedeutet, loslassen zu können und Dinge zu schätzen, die man bereits erreicht hat. Sei einfach auch mal stolz auf dich!

Don’t make your happiness depend on future achievements

EN •  An essential key to happiness is the ability to appreciate things you have accomplished so far. Be proud of yourself and don’t wait for tomorrow or some certain event to be happy or satisfied. Way too often we think “when I am rich I will be happy”, “when I have kids I will be happy” or “when I am famous I will be happy”. Is this really the truth? If we have never practiced being happy with what we have, why should we be happy then?

DE • Ein Schlüssel zu wahrem Glück ist, die Fähigkeit zu besitzen einfach mal stolz auf das zu sein, was man bereits erreicht hat. Viel zu oft machen wir Glück an Events in der Zukunft fest. Oft denken wir uns, “wenn ich so reich bin, dann bin ich glücklich” oder “wenn ich mal eine Familie gegründet habe, dann bin ich glücklich” oder “wenn ich berühmt bin, dann bin ich glücklich”. Aber ist das wirklich so? Wenn wir nie geübt haben, glücklich mit dem zu sein, was wir haben, wieso sollten wir dann später glücklich sein können?

Never lose your inner child

EN •  Come on! Have some fun. What is life good for if you don’t have time to just let go and have some fun without worries. I have to admit that taking this advice is hard for me. Switch off reason, not to go home from a party in time, or simply let other duties slip isn’t really me. But when I do it (on rare occasions) I have a lot of fun and an unforgettable time. I think it’s needed now and then.

DE • Lass los und hab einfach mal Spaß – ich muss zugeben, dass mir das am schwersten fällt. Die Vernunft auszuschalten, mal nicht rechtzeitig von einer Party nach Hause zu gehen, oder einfach mal andere Pflichten schleifen zu lassen. Aber wenn ich es mal (zu seltenen Gelegenheiten) tue, habe ich eine Menge Spaß und eine unvergessliche Zeit. Ich glaube, man braucht das ab und zu einfach.
