EN • Last week I spent three days in Munich. While I enjoyed the sun and the city vibes, I wrote this (rather unusual) city guide. When searching the internet for things to do in Munich, I realised that the same ideas pop up over and over again. So I decided to write a post about 5 lovely places I enjoyed most when visiting the Bavarian capital. Ready? Let’s go!

DE • Letzte Woche habe ich drei Tage in München verbracht. Während ich die Sonne und die Stadt in vollen Zügen genoss, habe ich diesen (etwas anderen) München-Guide verfasst. Ich habe festgestellt, dass man immer auf die selben Tipps stößt, wenn man das Internet nach “Dingen die man in München sehen und machen kann” durchsucht. Ich wollte diesen Kreis mal durchbrechen. Deshalb ist dieser Post eine kleine Sammlung meiner persönlichen Highlights aus der bayrischen Hauptstadt. Bereit? Los geht’s!

Here are my favourite places to see in Munich

EN • My number one of the places to see in Munich is the botanical garden. I loved this place for two reasons. First of all it is a beautiful quiet place in the middle of a busy metropole. So if you ever feel that you need a break from all the noise and rush, this is the place to go! The botanical garden is a part of the big park that surrounds the Nymphenburg Palace. Second: I LOVED the huge variety of different plants. There was a large rhododendron grove in full bloom and a greenhouse, where we met a bunch of turtles. You’ll see different plants from all over the world and can relax at a big lake full of carps.

DE • Meine persönliche Nummer Eins ist der botanische Garten, der sich dem Schloss Nymphenburg anschließt und das hat zwei Gründe. Erstens ist es DER perfekte Ort, wenn man mal dem Gewühle der Großstadt entfliehen möchte. Zweitens gibt es so viele schöne und ganz unterschiedliche Ecken: einen wunderschön blühenden Rhododendron-Hain, ein Palmenhaus, ein Madagaskar-Haus und einen tollen Rosengarten. Wem das noch nicht genug ist, der wird sicherlich an dem wunderschönen See voller Karpfen auf seine Kosten kommen, oder in den exotischen Gewächshäusern, in denen man frei laufende Schildkröten antrifft..

EN • We can’t say “no” to a rooftop bar in the 12th floor of a noble hotel, can we? That’s why the bar of the Andaz Hotel definitely belongs on the list of places you need to see in Munich. Well, I should mention that the drinks are a bit pricy. Sill, in my opinion it’s worth it to enjoy one drink there, because the view is PERFECT! You can see the whole city and the alp mountains in the background! Therefore, this place is a YES YES YES!

DE • Die Dachterrasse auf dem Andaz Hotel haben wir eher durch Zufall (auf Googlemaps) entdeckt. Diese Bar ist wirklich ein toller Ort, um einen Cocktail mit Alpenpanorama und Blick über ganz München zu genießen. Deshalb gehört sie auf jeden Fall auf die Liste meiner Highlights! Ich sollte wohl erwähnen, dass die Getränke dort nicht ganz billig sind. Trotzdem ist es auf jeden Fall ein Geheimtipp und solange es bei einem Drink bleibt, ist diese Location auf jeden Fall ihr Geld wert.

EN • Do you know the tired and exhausted feeling, when you have walked all across the city for hours? The day I arrived in Munich I went to all the shops and visited some of the sights in the city center. Afterwards I felt super exhausted and just needed a break. Luckily I discovered the beautiful café/restaurant Coditiano. I LOVED their avocado toast, fresh juices and chocolate tarts and spent a couple of hours there working on this post and recovering.

DE • Kennt ihr das Gefühl, wenn ihr nach einem Stadtbummel einfach nur müde und komplett fertig seid? In diesem ‘Nachmittagstief’ habe ich mich gerade befunden, als ich das kleine, super süße Café Coditiano entdeckt habe. Der Avocado-Toast, die frischen Smoothies und die Schoko-Tarte dort ist einfach nur göttlich.

EN • I was literally blown away by the thoughtful concept of the concept store ‘Sois Blessed’. The shop not only features high quality fashion designs to a (rather) resonable price. It also has a flower shop, where you can learn to create your own beautiful bouquets and a high class restaurant/café with delicious food. Of course you can also buy the interior that is displayed in the shop. I found a lot of inspiration in this beautiful boutique.

DE • Ich war hin und weg von dem tollen Konzept des Concept Stores ‘Sois Blessed’. Es ist nicht nur eine Boutique mit wunderschönen Designerkleidern zu einem (eher) fairem Preis. Der Laden beinhaltet auch einen Blumenladen, in dem man unter anderem auch lernen kann, wunderschöne Bouquets zu binden. Außerdem gibt es noch ein geschmackvoll eingerichtetes Restaurant im Anschluss. Natürlich kann man alle Möbel aus der Ausstellung auch kaufen. Für mich war ‘Sois Blessed’ ein wirklich inspirierender Ort.

EN • If you are a food lover like me, you will enjoy the delicious food at Heinrich Matters. The menu is super creative and every course is a true piece of art. I enjoyed the dinner I had there with my best friends to the fullest and would always come back to try all the other creations on the menu.

DE • Wenn ihr leckeres Essen genauso sehr liebt wie ich, dann werdet ihr im Heinrich Matters auf jeden Fall auf eure Kosten kommen! Jedes Gericht ist super kreativ und alles, was wir probiert haben, war wirklich sehr lecker. Wenn ich wieder in München bin, werde ich auf jeden Fall nochmal wieder kommen, um mich weiter durch die Speisekarte zu probieren.
