Visiting a Coconut Farm in Thailand

EN • Currently we are spending 3 weeks on a roundtrip through Thailand. A trip that was long overdue cause I recently felt kinda burnt out and longing for a long vacation. Even though it is a pain to enter Thailand right now (you need to get 3 PCR tests on specific dates) we made it! One of our first experiences with nature in Thailand was this amazing palm tree forest we got to see when visiting a coconut farm in Thailand on our way to the floating markets.

What I wore on the Coconut Farm in Thailand

EN • Thailand is very hot and humid and therefore I loved to wear loose dresses throughout the whole stay. While visiting a coconut farm in Thailand I wore a loose white silk dress combined with my slippers in the same color. The Rayban Sunglasses of my boyfriend and my small handwoven rattan bag complete the look. I got the bag on one of the Thai markets and will take it come as a memory.

Did you know? 5 Facts about the coconut production

Of course I would like to share my newly learned knowledge with you and so I share 10 facts about coconur products which you might not have known before. Lets go!

ENGLISH

  • The average income of a coconut farm is only 356 USD per year, which averages out to less than one dollar a day!
  • The closer a coconut tree grows to the sea, the saltier is the water you find inside of the coconut.
  • There are various products that can be made out of the coconut, the flower or the tree. To mention some of them: creams, oils for beauty or food, roofs for the houses, doormats, carpets, coconut sugar (used in almost every Thai dish), coconut vinegar, mosquito repellent, soap, dried coconut (we love that in our fruit bowls!)
  • A coconut needs between 10 and 12 months to ripe
  • The water contains almost no fat and consists to 94% of water. Coconut milk is made by adding water to grated coconut meat. The milk consists of about 50% water and is high in fat.
