My two Bengal sisters, Tora and Olive, turned our three-floor apartment into their own jungle gym the moment they arrived—not because Bengals are wild, but because they’re built from the DNA of the Asian leopard cat. That tiny detail explains why they move like athletes, think like engineers, and refuse to do anything halfway.

Unsere beiden Bengal-Schwestern, Tora und Olive, haben unsere dreistöckige Wohnung im Nu in ihren persönlichen Abenteuerspielplatz verwandelt – nicht etwa, weil Bengalkatzen wild sind, sondern weil sie genetisch mit der Asiatischen Leopardkatze verwandt sind. The tale of Tora and Olive
EN • Tora is the food lover of the pair. If you open a can anywhere in the house you can be sure she is next to you in the next moment waiting to devour it. She and believes snacks are a universal right. Olive, on the other hand, approaches every meal with the intensity of a Michelin critic and is the brainy troublemaker. She watches everything, calculates angles, and often acts like she’s two moves ahead of me. They’re sisters, but their personalities could not be more different. What they do share is a constant need to explore, climb, sprint, observe, and participate in absolutely everything I do.

Sie ist der Meinung, dass Snacks ein universelles Recht sind. Olive hingegen nähert sich jeder Mahlzeit mit der Intensität eines Sternekritikers und ist die clevere Unruhestifterin. Sie beobachtet alles, berechnet Winkel und tut oft so, als wäre sie mir zwei Schritte voraus. Sie sind Schwestern, aber ihre Persönlichkeiten könnten unterschiedlicher nicht sein. Was sie jedoch verbindet, ist ihr ständiges Bedürfnis, Neues zu entdecken, zu klettern, zu sprinten, zu beobachten und an allem, was wir tun, teilzunehmen.
Bengals are full of fersonality
EN • Bengals are famously intelligent, deeply social, and incredibly communicative. They don’t fade into the background. Tora and Olive are fully present, emotionally expressive, and sometimes dramatic in the best possible way. They challenge me, make me laugh every single day, and bring a kind of energy into my life that’s impossible to replicate. Even though they are half wild we never had any bites, scratches or violent incidents.

Bengal cats as an indoor cat?
EN • People often ask whether Bengals can live indoors. If you give them enough stimulation and space, the answer is absolutely yes. My home has become a vertical playground, and they use every centimeter of it. They race up and down the stairs, monitor the street from their favorite window ledge, and jump between furniture pieces like they’re training for a feline triathlon. On special days I take them to the forest with harnesses cause I feel they need it. Tora treats it like a buffet of new scents, while Olive conducts field research, as if she’s collecting data for a secret report. Both LOVE to climb on trees.
DE • Viele fragen sich, ob Bengalkatzen in der Wohnung leben können. Wenn man ihnen genügend Beschäftigung und Platz bietet, lautet die Antwort ganz klar: Ja. Unsere Wohnung ist zu einem vertikalen Spielplatz geworden, und sie nutzen jeden Zentimeter. Sie flitzen die Treppe rauf und runter, beobachten die Straße von ihrem Lieblingsfensterbrett aus und springen zwischen den Möbeln hin und her, als würden sie für einen Katzen-Triathlon trainieren. An besonderen Tagen nehmen wir sie mit Geschirr mit in den Wald, weil wir finden, dass sie das brauchen. Tora genießt den Wald wie ein Buffet voller neuer Düfte, während Olive Feldforschung betreibt, als würde sie Daten für einen geheimen Bericht sammeln. Beide lieben es, auf Bäume zu klettern.
Would I ever adopt Bengal cats again?
EN • Yes cause they stole our hearts from minute 1 and also they are really beautiful. Living with Bengal sisters means living with motion, mischief, and love all at once. It’s a little chaotic, demanding but completely worth it. Tora and Olive don’t just share our home. They shape it. And honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
